Master of Subtlety

At the moment at the school we have 2 undergraduates doing some sort of work experience placement. I’m not actually sure what they’re doing exactly, but I do know that we had almost no notice that they were coming in order to sort out computer accounts for them, a source of much annoyance to my boss JD.

Anyway, this afternoon the two of them were working in the corner of the otherwise empty Graphics lab. The lab is usually devoid of annoying kids when there are no lessons, unlike the other computer labs which are open access. When there are kids in there outside of lessons, I have a small window from my office from which to keep an eye on the little buggers.

Mat was in my office drinking coffee and looking out of this window at the blonder, slimmer, and more female of these two undergrads, when he spotted a sixth-former walking into the lab. Of the 30 free computers in the room that he could have used, he just happened to choose to sit down at the one right next to the cute undergrad.

Apparently there is no Key Stage 5 course in subtlety, or at least if there is, he’s getting an F.

he needs to take lessons from me, the master…. i sometimes don’t even notice myself checking girls out until after i’ve checked them out!

Oh hush – sorting out computer accounts for a couple of interns can’t be -that- hard? ;) Heck – I setup my Norwegian undergraduate intern’s accounts on our system in about 15 mins! (and yes, they are tall, slim and attractive but more of the male variety, much to the dismay of the rest of my staff :P )

It was more to do with the fact that my boss is insanely busy and would have preferred to be able to set up the accounts when he had a spare few mins. When I say that we had almost no notice, I actually mean we were told they needed account about 2 hours after they actually arrived, and so their accounts were being demanded immediately.

Now their IT inductions… that was certainly quite painless. As the person who did it, I can say I did not find it unpleasant in the least.

I can imagine the internal dialog now:

“Doo de doo de doo… hey wait, did I just check out that chick’s ass? I did just check out that chick’s ass! And it was HAWT!”
